What's With the Girls' Names?
Eiko is a common Japanese girls name. This is pronounced "A-ko", thus "B-ko" and "C-ko" complete the sequence. The kanji (written text) "-ko" means child, and is only used when referring to girls. Thus A-ko is effectively "A-girl", and the others are "B-girl" and "C-girl".
A rumor was that the main characters were called A B and C during pre-production, and the names just stuck.
